About The Conference
Concerned with the increasing challenge of sustainability and the security of humanity,
'Sumangalam', an initiative based on Indian thought (भारतीय संस्कृति), presents a unique Indian
vision of addressing these challenges by securing the purity of the five basic elements of nature, the Panchamahabhuta (पंचमहाभूत)
, consisting of the Earth (पृथ्वी), Water (जल/आप), Fire (अग्नि/तेज ), Air (वायु) and
Space (आकाश).
Modern science, too, is turning today to an integrated view that was first heralded by the concept of the
Panch Mahabhutas, which were considered the holistic foundation of all Nature, the matter
and the force through whose constant interplay life is created and sustained. A fundamental harmony
exists at both the macrocosmic and microcosmic levels. Understanding the holistic foundations of life,
Nature and humanity’s place in it is essential to overcome the conflicts between humans and
Nature, the root cause of the environmental challenges we face today.
To shape the solutions to the challenge of climate change and associated environmental
concerns based on the synergy of Indian philosophical tradition and modern science, a National
Conference on "Akash for Life" is being organised by Vijnana Bharati in association
with various science Ministries/Departments and Uttarakhand State during November 5-6, 2022, at
Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
Eminent scientists, thought leaders, academics, traditional knowledge experts, practitioners,
industry leaders, social and field workers, and students would actively participate in the
conference. The event ensures an excellent opportunity to interact and initiate collaborations
at the academic, industrial, and social levels.
